Global Dimension in Citizenship

There are two world wide events coming up in October. One World Week begins on the 18th October and World Food Day is the previous Wednesday 16th October. New Online programme for Citizenship teachers

Learning to Read the World through Other Eyes is a provoking resource for teachers interested in developing the Global aspect of citizenship. This online programme, which is free, offers a methodology to support teachers and help develop an undrstanding of how language and systems of belief affect the way we interpret our world. The programme offers resources, videos and classroom activities.

New resource for Citizenship and History teachers

New materials to support the teaching of controversial issues are being launched on the 18th June 2009 at Stormount. The Holocaust pack consists of a DVD and teacher materials and will be distributed free to all schools. Among those who worked on this project is our own Sheelagh Dean and the resource was sponsored by the OFMDFM.
